Your next holiday in China

I’ll save you the usual Shanghai media waffle-introduction of “holidays are coming up so let’s take a look at blah blah blah blah”, and get right into it:

Dali, Yunnan

A 5 hour flight from Shanghai could take you to Thailand, Japan, or the Philippines, but Yunnan is worth seeing while you are already in China; especially if you have so far only experienced cities. The people, atmosphere, emotions and everything is different when you decide to leave horrible dirt of city life and arrive in a simpler and more ‘real’ place.

The top rated accommodation on Trip Advisor for Dali is The Linden Centre. Find the best prices for it, as well as more photos and reviews, on Agoda.

Around Shanghai:

Wuxi

Wuxi is very close – you can get to the Wuxi Lingshan Hilton hotel in around an hour and a half or so. The prices are good – on Agoda as always – and the hotel has a kids play area, so is great for a family getaway outside of Shanghai.

Qiandao Lake

Also a nice break for a family from Shanghai, or anyone looking to have cleaner air and a short weekend (or other) holiday.

Qiandao Lake has several new-ish, standard hotel choices, such as this Sheraton – search Agoda for prices and reviews.

Qiandao Lake from Shanghai

It is a 3 and a half hour drive away from Shanghai, but well worth the extra distance and car-bum time.

Qiandao Sheraton Bath

You can lie in bed and stare menacingly at the person in the bath (and vice-versa).

Qiandao Sheraton LakeExcellent goodness.

Visit Agoda for more photos and reviews.
