Park Hyatt Resort Ningbo: A 5 star room and some oxygen

All of this hot weather is nice, and may even come close to putting you in the holiday mood.

However, the endless drone of traffic and horn-monkeys beeping just for the pure bloody love it, horrible city stenches and the horror of humans sprawling everywhere means that a real holiday feel is out of reach in Shanghai, no matter how much you try to stay inside the expat bubble and compound.

The answer is simple: force yourself to leave Shanghai on the weekend. You may miss ‘the event’ that everyone will be busy photographing themselves at, but that’s just an added bonus,

Go to the Park Hyatt Resort in Ningbo, which is a 3 hour drive (including pit stops) away from Shanghai. They even have a shuttle bus that should take you – for free – to their hotel, which leaves from Xintiandi area.

Book the cheapest rate on Agoda by clicking the Agoda banner on the right.

I’m going to save you the completely irrelevant crap-Shanghai-city-media ‘review’ which always says exactly the same thing for every 5 star hotel in China: ‘it was really really nice but could probably do with better English-speaking service here and there’

So, here are some pics:
