Merry Christmas! Caption competition too.

Ah, the one time of the year we can use a particular word whenever we like. (or at least with a bit tacked on the end)

I will always smile when hearing Christian hymns being played in shopping malls in China though. Well, more than that, I sing them out loud, wondering if any one single person working at the luxury clothes shops has any idea that they are listening to “hark, the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn King…”, all day for a month.

See, mega-hyped consumerism and Christian values can live peacefully, side-by-side.

It’s probably a good time to take a Christmas, sorry seasonal break. Not because any of us are doing anything special, only because it is ‘a la mode’ to look as though we are terribly busy partying, having fun and being too popular to do any work for the next two months. (as Shanghai closes for the Winter)

I won’t suggest ‘top posts’ from this Shanghai expat magazine blog that you should read, because they are all top, and you should read all of them.

So on with our caption competition. You can win ‘thanks’ or maybe ‘respect’ for good attempts.

Bumless Wonders

Here’s a couple of attempts to get you going:

‘One of the raunchier scenes from Planet of the Apes’

‘All I want for Christmas is some glutimus maximus’

Bye for now, all of us are off to spend 1888 RMB each (+15% ‘service’) in any of the places selling a rip off meal. Good to see the spirit of Christmas alive and well across the globe.
