Pizza Pizza Pizza: Shanghai

Pizza is good, pizza is great, we surrender our will, as of this date.

Two great comedy quotes aside – pizza. Here is a wise selection of some different pizza offerings in Shanghai.

Best value and classic delivery style pizza: Una’s Pizza

Una’s have a great deal if you order on Sherpa’s – order any two pizzas, any size – and get a free 12 inch Margherita pizza!

A free pizza is a great start to any meal.

I’m not sure if Una’s add MSG to their pizza – I certainly find my brain a little affected after I pig out on Una’s pizzas. But, it doesn’t really matter. The price is great and the pizza is satisfying. Nothing fancy or extreme – but a definitely enjoyable delivery pizza.

Authentic delivery pizza: Aura

Aura‘s is a restaurant worth visiting for their other dishes. Yet their delivery pizza is worth a try if you like this type: a more authentic, flat and crispy pizza, which feels as though it is more genuinely Italian, rather than the heavier American design.

Hits-all-the-bases indulgent pizza: California Pizza Kitchen

They may not be eating Beijing Duck Pizza on the streets of Bergamo tonight, but California Pizza Kitchen hits the spot and offers guaranteed and greed satiating pizza indulgence. The price is very good for what’s on offer, and absolutely fills the ‘I want to pig out and be fat and happy’ bracket of pizza delight.

Fine restaurant option: Scarpetta

Scarpetta is a restaurant that you should visit and take time to enjoy. The price is higher, but you should go with a group of 4 or 6 so that you can enjoy their pizza, but also their other meaty dishes. I meant ‘fine restaurant’ as in ‘good’, not ‘fine dining’. But as mentioned, the price is higher than the other ‘pure pizza’ options, as you will want to try out the meat on their menu. So it’s more a 300 RMB + place, rather than something to only quench your pizza desires.

Classic and real Italian: Isola Bella

Not ‘Isola’ in IFC (an Italian restaurant in a shopping mall… I don’t think so), but Isola Bella on Huai Hai Rd. they’ve been there for at least a decade, and offer real Italian food. It’s an Italian family place with the slightly elderly Italian chef putting together the dishes in the kitchen, and a good time, a cold beer and authentic fare is to be had by all.

I think Una’s has that deal even if you don’t order through Sherpas. Call the restaurant directly , they have free delivery!

If in Pudong , check out Acqua e Farina for some amazing pizza.

Yes, but then you would have to talk to people. No, I don’t think so.

Hahaha , I guess you’re right. 10 rmb cheaper involves dealing with people. Forget that!
